The Outpouring of Divine Love – detail

Chapter I

‘We know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him’

(1 John 4:16)
God is a loving God. He loves each person with an immense love. No earthly love can compare with this love. The love of parent for child, the love between husband and wife are pale reflections of the wonderful love of God. God created us out of love. God sustains us in being out of love. Out of love for us God gave mankind complete freedom. God wants to share his glory and happiness with us. He has prepared many delights for us. The wonderful things he created on earth for us are little glimpses of what he has in store for us in Heaven.

Out of love for us God shared with us his creative power – the ability to make things, to invent things. He delights in working with us. Parents cooperate with God to bring new life into the world. We are to cooperate with God in looking after the plants and animals.

In God there are three persons. There is one God butthere are three persons. We call this the mystery of the Blessed Trinity. The first person in the Trinity we call the Father. The second person, the Son, is the expression of the Father. He is sometimes called the Word of God (John 1:1). The third person, the Holy Spirit, is the love between the Father and the Son. He is love personified. The three persons in God are all equal. They form a Community of love. God wants us to be in Community with him to share his life and love. God is a spirit. He is neither male nor female. God is eternal. He had no beginning. He always was, he is, and he always will be. God is infinite in all perfections. God is all powerful.

This almighty being loves you with an incredible love. He looks on you with tenderness. Because of his respect for your freedom he will not interfere in your life unless you ask him. One glimpse of God would fill you with incredible joy. One touch from him and your happiness would know no bounds. When we die we will see God. God wants to share his happiness with us forever. We are so loved.

God has been revealing his love to mankind throughout the ages, but I believe the time is coming when God’s love will be outpoured upon the earth in wonderful ways to those whose hearts are open to him. It’s as if he cannot contain his love any longer and many will experience his loving caress. Those who are pure in heart will see God at work. Those who long to encounter him will do so.

St. Gertrude’s book (13 th century), “Revelation of Divine Love”, spoke of the love of the heart of God. St. Margaret Alacoque (17 th century) also wrote of the love of the Sacred Heart. I wish to write of the outpouring of love ofour God and to assure you how loved you are. The Community of Divine Love prays for all those who read this book. As you read it you will be touched in some way by the love of God and receive grace to help you in your spiritual life.

Many people today are testifying to God’s love. People in all walks of life are experiencing this love, even prisoners. One woman was in prison, although innocent, in terrible conditions. At first she was angry and rebellious. Then, one day she prayed, “If there is a God, help me.” Immediately she experienced God’s love flooding her whole being. From then on she was transformed. She was radiant with joy. When people came to visit her they said she looked beautiful. Criminals too have been touched by God’s love and changed their lives, either because they prayed for help or someone else prayed for them. László was alone in a hotel room in a foreign country feeling very depressed, when suddenly he felt the presence of God and his love. He had been taught in school and University that there was no God, but now he knew for sure God existed.

When I was a young nun as well as an hour’s prayer in the morning we had to go to chapel for an hour’s prayer in the evening. I used to be so tired after working hard all day. I used to think, “How will I last an hour in the chapel?” I just wanted to lie down. Then I would experience the loving presence of God – such love! such tenderness! I guess it was like the honeymoon time as I had given my life to him and pronounced my vows in front of the Bishop. Such love! This presence is a person of wondrous love. I cannot put it into words. He did not mind that I was too exhausted to speak to him. It was enough I was there. In the chapel there was no noise to distract me.

I know of God’s love not just with my mind but with my heart. Prayer is the raising of the mind and heart to God. Give time in your life to God. Go apart with him sometimes. He loves you. Our response to God’s love is surely love. If you love someone and he writes to you would you not read his letters over and over again? The Bible is the Word of God. Read it, meditate on it sometimes. Read the words of Jesus in gospel – hang on to his words. They are life-giving and healing. Jesus is the Second Person in the Trinity. We will be quoting some passages from the Bible in this book. Repeat them slowly. They will be a means of grace for you.

God’s love is vaster than the ocean, vaster than space. God’s love is immense. Divine love is a dynamic life giving force. Love is the greatest power on earth. Love frees, heals, saves. Love delights in giving. Love causes joy.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It alwaysprotects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

(1 Cor 13:4-8)
God is like this. God is love. We are made in the image of God. We too are called to be beings of love. But we are free to choose. Our eternal happiness lies with God. We can live through love in his presence.

Reflections on the love of God “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying, I have loved you with an ever lasting love, I have drawn you with loving kindness.”

(Jeremiah 31:3)

“I will betroth you to me forever, I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord.”

(Hosea 2:19-20)
I believe the Lord is saying this to his people today: My love is being outpoured in an infinite variety of ways in these latter times. My love cannot contain itself. Those who believe in me and desire union with me will experience my love (many already are) in wonderful ways, so that they in turn can be channels of my love to others. They are my witnesses. Through them I can reach out to the lost, so that they too can know my love. I am rising up a vast army of witnesses so that many will be converted. Once someone has been touched by my love his joy is so great that others want to know the secret. My love transforms people no matter how terrible their conditions are on earth. When they come through trials with courage their reward is great. When the day comes when I take them to me they will rise up in glory – beautiful and joyous.

May God our Father bless you with abundant blessing. May you walk in his way always, for his ways lead to happiness. May he bless you with peace so you are free from worry. May he bless you with joy always and protect you from depression. May you grow in the knowledge and love of our God. May your loving presence draw others to God. May you and your family be blessed with everlasting happiness. Amen.

Dear reader, this is our prayer for you. If this is what you desire say “Amen” (so be it).
